You can earn your Google certification without attending a GCA, but it won’t be as fun! To date, over 2,500 educators have attended the GCA. The purpose behind the Google Educator certification program is to identify highly qualified individuals who are confident users of Google Apps for Education and can communicate their knowledge effectively to others. 

While Google Provides a comprehensive test center filled with the information required to be successful on the certification exams, it is helpful to review and prepare with a group of other like-minded educators. The GCA is a community of individuals with a common purpose. Together, we support one another throughout the certification process and beyond.

  • Passing a computer-based exam is required for all Google Certifications. During the GCA you will learn the specifications for each exam and receive study material and sample questions that are similar to those you should expect to find on the official examination.
  • Use each of the required Google tools: Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sites, and the Chrome web browser.
  • Study the material provided by Google in the Google EDU training center.

Individuals must take and pass one or more exams in order to earn a Google Certification. During the GCA we will review the requirements of each exam and help you determine which certification is right for you. Exams are purchased directly from Google.

  • Google Educator Level 1 – 120 minute multiple choice and practical exam
  • Google Educator Level 2 – 120 minute multiple choice and practical exam
  • Google Certified Trainer – trainer essentials exam (25 questions)
  • Google Certified Administrator – 120 minute multiple choice and practical exam.

    Exam format varies according by certification. Generally, each certification has two major exam sections:
  • Multiple Choice Questions (20-50)
  • Practical Section – 10-12 specific questions that require you to create documents, share Google Sites, create calendars, etc.
  • Time Limit: 90-120 minutes (varies by exam)

The certification exams are very detailed and specific and should not be taken lightly. Individuals interested in becoming Certified Trainers will need to submit an application after passing Level 1 and 2 exams. This application includes biographical information, a case study and training video. 

GCA participants will receive templates to help prepare your application as well as examples of accepted applications and tips. The gEducator training team can also review your application before it is submitted.

  • Case-study highlighting the training plan you developed for a school.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis by a team of reviewers.
